Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu chaired a high-level stakeholder meeting to review India's preparedness for Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) adoption and compliance with ICAO's CORSIA framework. The meeting focused on SAF production, blending roadmap, and carbon accounting ahead of the mandatory CORSIA phase starting January 1, 2027.
Background
India is committed to building a robust SAF ecosystem to support aviation sector growth and contribute to global carbon reduction. CORSIA (Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation) is an ICAO initiative to offset CO2 emissions from international flights. India currently has 104 airports running on 100% green energy, up from zero in 2014.
