The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) concluded its three-day Yamuna Dialogues initiative, with recommendations to form the basis of the proposed 'Delhi Yamuna Compact', an implementation framework for restoring and managing the Yamuna floodplains. This follows directions from Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu after his visits to the floodplains.

Background

The Yamuna floodplains in Delhi have faced ecological degradation due to encroachment, pollution, and unplanned development. The DDA, as the main land-owning agency, has been tasked with restoration efforts. Previous initiatives include the Yamuna Action Plan, but implementation has been fragmented.
