The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) reviewed enforcement actions in NCR and found the Ghaziabad road redevelopment project fully compliant with its standard framework. This highlights ongoing efforts to control dust pollution through road infrastructure improvements.
Background
CAQM is a statutory body established to tackle air pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR). Its Enforcement Task Force (ETF) conducts regular inspections and enforces compliance with air quality norms.

CAQM's 135th ETF meeting on 20 July 2026 reviewed enforcement actions for 1-13 July 2026.
Flying squads conducted 175 inspections: 17 construction & demolition sites, 90 industrial units, 68 DG sets.
Proposed actions: closure of 1 project/industry, sealing of 19 DG sets, 9 compliance orders, 4 environmental compensation proposals.
25 restart orders issued after compliance verification: 2 in Delhi, 11 in Haryana, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, 2 in Rajasthan.
Cumulative inspections: 27,925 units; 1,803 closure directions issued; 1,446 restart orders after compliance.
Ghaziabad road redevelopment: 42 road stretches (~9 km) inspected, all fully paved, compliant with CAQM framework.
CAQM emphasized adoption of standard framework by all road-owning agencies in Delhi-NCR to reduce road dust.
