CAQM inspects urban road redevelopment in Faridabad and Gurugram

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) conducted a special inspection on July 22, 2026, covering 64 road stretches in Faridabad and Gurugram to assess compliance with its standard framework for road paving and greening. The inspection found that 15 road stretches had incomplete paving, and several locations showed non-compliance with standards, prompting CAQM to direct disciplinary action against responsible officials.
Background
CAQM is a statutory body established to improve air quality in the National Capital Region (NCR) and adjoining areas. Urban road dust is a major contributor to PM2.5 and PM10 pollution, and proper paving from end to end is critical for dust control.

CAQM directed identification and disciplinary action against officials responsible for providing false information.
Proper paving is essential to reduce road dust and enhance effectiveness of mechanized sweeping and dust control measures.
CAQM will continue such inspection campaigns to monitor ground-level implementation of air pollution control measures.
