Background
BRICS is an intergovernmental organization comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. India assumed the BRICS Presidency in 2026 with the theme 'Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability'. The Anti-Corruption Working Group was established to enhance cooperation among member states in combating corruption, asset recovery, and promoting transparency.

The second BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group (ACWG) meeting will be held in Hyderabad on August 4-5, 2026.
The meeting is hosted by India's Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Union Government.
It will also host the second meeting of the BRICS expert network on asset recovery.
The event will be inaugurated by Rachna Shah, Secretary, DoPT.
Participants include BRICS member countries, senior policymakers, experts, and representatives of anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies.
Key discussion points include strengthening informal cooperation for tracing fugitives, enhancing information-sharing, and supporting extradition proceedings.
The meeting will also discuss combating corruption risks from FinTech, digital assets, and emerging digital financial instruments.
A side event titled 'Ethical Governance through Innovation and Tech-Driven Systems' will be held on August 5.
The meeting is the final anti-corruption working group meeting during India's BRICS Presidency.
It aims to consolidate progress and lay the foundation for sustained cooperation in asset recovery and prevention of cross-border corruption.
