Self-enumeration for the Houselisting phase of Census 2027 has started in Tamil Nadu and Tripura, available until July 31. This is India's first digital census, with field enumeration to follow in August. The process has already been completed in 23 states/UTs.
Background
The Census of India is conducted every 10 years. The 2021 census was postponed due to COVID-19 and is now scheduled for 2027. This census is the first to be conducted digitally, with a self-enumeration option.
