Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced the expansion of the Mukh Mantri Teerath Yatra Yojana, adding new pilgrimage sites from August 1, 2026. This scheme provides free pilgrimages for devotees, covering all costs including transportation, boarding, and lodging.
Background
The Mukh Mantri Teerath Yatra Yojana was launched by the Punjab government to enable free pilgrimages to sacred sites. Initially, it covered Sri Harmandir Sahib, Durgiana Mandir, Bhagwan Valmiki Teerath Sthal, Sri Anandpur Sahib, Naina Devi Ji, and other sites. The scheme is part of the state's efforts to promote religious tourism and communal harmony.

New pilgrimage sites added: Khatu Shyam Ji, Salasar Ji, Vrindavan Dham, and Rishikesh.

People above 50 years can visit religious places free of cost under the scheme.
