India, as BRICS Chair in 2026, is hosting the second BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting and the second meeting of the BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery in Hyderabad on August 4-5, 2026. This is the final anti-corruption working group meeting under India's presidency, aiming to consolidate progress and lay the foundation for continued cooperation among BRICS members.
Background
The meeting builds on the outcomes of the first BRICS Anti-Corruption Working Group meeting held virtually on June 2-3, 2026. India's BRICS presidency theme is 'Resilience, Innovation, Collaboration and Sustainable Development'.
Key facts
The meeting is organized by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India.
It will be held in Hyderabad, Telangana, on August 4-5, 2026.
The meeting will be inaugurated by Ms. Rachna Shah, Secretary, DoPT.
Participants include senior policymakers, experts, professionals, and representatives from anti-corruption and law enforcement agencies of BRICS member countries.
Discussions will focus on strengthening international cooperation for asset recovery, tackling cross-border corruption, and enhancing transparency and accountability in governance.
Key areas include informal cooperation to support tracing and extradition of fugitive offenders in corruption cases, sharing information via the BRICS Expert Network on Asset Recovery, and sharing experiences and good practices to prevent and address corruption risks from fintech, digital assets, and emerging digital financial measures.
On August 5, 2026, a special event titled 'Ethical Governance through Innovation and Technology-Driven Systems' will be held, providing a platform for BRICS members to share experiences on technology-enabled governance, including digital public procurement, citizen participation, transparency, accountability, and integrity in public administration.
This is the final anti-corruption working group meeting under India's BRICS presidency.
