NHAI has introduced a framework to share national highway infrastructure and operational data with premier government research institutes like IITs, NITs, and CSIR-CRRI. This marks a shift from the earlier practice of signing separate MoUs for each research proposal, aiming to reduce procedural delays and foster innovation.
Background
Previously, each research proposal required a separate MoU involving extensive legal scrutiny and multi-agency consultations, causing delays. The new framework centralizes data sharing through a dedicated mechanism within NHAI.
