Indian Railways has approved a ₹220 crore project to upgrade the electric traction system on the Wadi-Raichur section of South Central Railway from 1×25 kV to 2×25 kV. This upgrade is part of efforts to strengthen railway infrastructure and enhance capacity on high-density routes.

Background

The Wadi-Raichur section is part of the High Density Network (HDN) Route-7, which connects Mumbai-Pune-Wadi-Raichur-Guntakal-Kadapa-Renigunta-Chennai. The section is 102 route km (204 track km) double-line.
