Why in news

The Ministry of MSME has implemented several key reforms under the Credit Guarantee Scheme (CGS) for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), including a doubling of the maximum guarantee limit to ₹10 crore and a 50% reduction in the annual guarantee fee. These measures aim to improve credit flow and awareness among MSEs, especially first-generation entrepreneurs, women-led enterprises, and units in backward districts.

Background

The Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises (CGTMSE) was established to provide collateral-free credit guarantees to MSEs. The scheme is implemented by the Ministry of MSME through CGTMSE.
