PMMSY was launched in 2020-21 as a flagship scheme for the sustainable development of the fisheries sector in India. It aims to enhance fish production, improve post-harvest infrastructure, and ensure welfare of fishers and fish farmers.

  8. Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility extended to fishers and fish farmers since FY 2018-19.

  9. State governments provide additional interest subvention: 4% on loans up to ₹1 lakh and 2% on loans between ₹1-3 lakh, making KCC loans up to ₹1 lakh interest-free and effective interest rate 2% for loans ₹1-3 lakh.

  10. Odisha government conducts regular awareness programs through fisheries and animal resource fairs and meetings at district, block, and village levels.
