The US Homeland Security has added 43 entities to the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List, the largest-ever expansion. The Campaign for Uyghurs (CFU) has welcomed this decision, which targets firms allegedly linked to state-sponsored forced labour in East Turkistan.
Background
The UFLPA was enacted in the US in 2021 to prevent goods produced with forced labor in Xinjiang (referred to as East Turkistan by Uyghur groups) from entering the US market. The Entity List identifies specific entities that are presumed to use forced labor, and imports from these entities are banned unless proven otherwise.
