President Droupadi Murmu is on a state visit to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania. This is the first-ever visit by an Indian President to Moldova, marking a historic milestone in bilateral relations. She held delegation-level talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu, focusing on enhancing cooperation in various sectors.
Background
India and Moldova have maintained cordial and friendly relations for over three decades. Despite geographical distance, their partnership has grown based on shared commitments to peace, development, and international cooperation.

President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Chisinau, Moldova on 20 July 2026, as part of a state visit to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania.
This is the first-ever state visit by an Indian President to Moldova.
President Murmu was received by Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Mihai Popsoi.
She held a bilateral meeting and delegation-level talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu.
India decided to double the number of ITEC training slots for Moldovan professionals, including specialized courses in AI and emerging technologies.
India invited Moldovan diplomats to participate in special courses on AI and cyber diplomacy at India's Foreign Service Institute.
Both leaders agreed to enhance cooperation in agriculture, logistics & infrastructure, healthcare & pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, digital public infrastructure, AI, and innovation.
The visit reflects growing friendship and mutual trust between the two countries.
President Murmu was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Smt. Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhania, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma, and Lok Sabha MP Shri Vijay Baghel.
