Why in news
The Labour Ministry has completed bank verification for 1.18 lakh dormant EPFO accounts under its auto-refund pilot. The system is expected to be ready by August-end, allowing eligible subscribers to receive their PF money without filing a claim.
Background
The pilot project was approved by Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on 23 February 2026 for dormant EPF accounts with balances of up to ₹1,000. It covers 7.11 lakh inoperative accounts holding ₹30.52 crore unclaimed.
