Why in news

The National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) has signed an agreement with GD Goenka University to recognize it as an Awarding Body (AB-Standard). This allows the university to award degrees and certify learners trained directly by it in its own or fully managed campuses.

Background

NCVET is the apex regulator for vocational education and training in India, established to standardize and quality-assure vocational qualifications. Awarding Bodies are entities authorized to develop and award qualifications under the National Skills Qualifications Framework (NSQF).

  4. The university has developed its first NCVET-approved qualification pack titled 'Mental Health Well-Being Facilitator'.

  5. The module aims to train learners to work in mental health, identify common concerns, implement evidence-based brief interventions, and connect individuals to support services.

  6. Other attendees included VC Prof. Dinesh Shenoy, Director (Accreditation) Lt Col Vikram Singh Bhati, and Director (Monitoring) Lt Col Saurabh S. Bisht.
