The National Commission for Safai Karamcharis (NCSK) held a high-level meeting with NDMC to review working conditions, safety, and welfare of sanitation workers. Emphasis was placed on zero manual scavenging and mechanization of sewer cleaning.

Background

The NCSK is a statutory body under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, mandated to protect the rights and welfare of sanitation workers. Manual scavenging has been prohibited under the Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013.
