The Medical Innovation Patent Mitra initiative provides structured support for patent filing, technology transfer, and licensing.
Key facts
ICMR transferred three indigenous biomedical technologies to Indian pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturers.
Technologies include SHET-A2 (anti-HPV candidate for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia), licensed to MQure Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Two next-generation vaccine technologies against enteric bacterial infections, developed at ICMR-NIRBI, Kolkata, licensed to Biological E Ltd.
SHET-A2 is a first-in-class targeted therapeutic that selectively destroys HPV-induced pre-cancer and cervical cancer cells without harming healthy cells.
The enteric vaccine technologies include a fusion construct with Salmonella Typhi outer membrane protein for a next-generation typhoid vaccine.
Another technology is a multivalent vaccine construct against Salmonella Typhi/Paratyphi and Shigella infections.
These transfers convert publicly funded research into affordable health solutions and strengthen India's biomedical innovation ecosystem.
